Volvo's prices fall in line with rivals

Friday, November 20, 2009

Following on from the price reductions announced by premium segment players such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes in recent weeks, Volvo has now got in on the act.

"Volvo has always offered a value for money alternative in the Irish premium car market," says Adrian Yeates, sales and marketing manager for Volvo Car Ireland.

"We know from the experience with Flexifuels that outstanding value is still attractive even in these more difficult economic times. That is why we are offering what is an outstanding value for money offer to customers," he added.

Volvo has also announced that with effect from Model Year 10 cars, all Volvo cars first registered in the Republic of Ireland will benefit from a three-year 100,000km warranty. The standard international warranty is two years.

This enhancement gives Irish customers all the benefits and reassurance of the manufacturer's warranty and extends it to three years.

Savings will now apply across the Volvo range, with a reduction of some 2,240 on the C30 1.6; while there will be a massive drop of 11,000 on the XC90 D5 AWD seven-seat model.

Plus, say the people at Volvo, when you factor in the higher specification of a Volvo compared to its premium competitors, the value really is outstanding. For example, the stylish Volvo C30 has electronic climate control and DSTC as standard, as well as the three-year 100,000km warranty. If you choose the 1.6D start/stop variant, it produces just 99g/ km of CO2 - which means fuel consumption of just 3.8L/100km.

If your need is luxurious cruising, then the standard specification on the 40,230 Volvo S80 2.0D SE executive saloon includes full leather seating and a powered driver's seat.

The large estate Volvo V70 is now 3,750 cheaper for the 2.0 litre and larger engines, and by some 2,750 on the new and 1.6D version.

"We are determined to ensure 2010 kicks off as we all want, as the start of Ireland's economic recovery.
"As such, not only have Volvo introduced significant price cuts, but right now customers can benefit from free specification upgrades," adds Adrian Yeates.

More than 90% of Volvo customers currently opt for either the SE or R-Design specification, but if you buy before December 31 next, you will also automatically benefit from a free upgrade to either the SE or R-Design, worth up to 4,000.
